Croquet Development Curriculum

Our development program begins with fundamental skills taught during our monthly Open House events. Players progress through various stages of skill development, from basic ball control to advanced game variants.

Phase One: Fundamental Skills

These skills are introduced during our monthly Open House Gymkhana sessions:

1. Basic Ball Control

Players practice hitting balls back and forth, developing proper swing technique and clean ball striking.

2. Target Practice

Accuracy training: players aim to send balls onto marked target areas.

3. Ball-to-Ball Striking

Introduction to roqueting: players practice hitting one ball with another.

4. Hoop Running

Techniques for successfully sending balls through hoops.

5. Peg Shooting

Practice in accuracy and control when shooting at the peg.

Phase Two: Game Variants

Progressive introduction to different forms of croquet:

6. Golf Croquet Introduction

Learning the basics of Golf Croquet rules and strategy.

7. Golf Croquet Competition

Applying learned skills in competitive Golf Croquet matches.

8. Snake Croquet

Introduction to Snake Croquet format and tactics.

9. Ricochet Croquet

Learning the unique rules and strategies of Ricochet Croquet.

Phase Three: Advanced Play

Advanced game variations and competitive play:

10. One-Ball Ricochet

Specialized skills for One-Ball Ricochet gameplay.

11. One-Ball Association

Introduction to Association Croquet principles using one ball.

12. Association Croquet

Full Association Croquet rules, tactics, and competitive play.
